ABOUT

Hello everybody! 😀 I am an astronomer working in Galaxy Formation and Evolution at the University of Valladolid (Spain) with a Distinguished Senior Researcher position. I am also affiliated to the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (Portugal). I love studying extreme objects such as the most massive galaxies of the Universe or the outermost parts of the galaxies (their superfaint galaxy edges), and anything related to challenge the current frontiers of our Physics theories

WORK

Distinguished Senior Researcher
University of Valladolid (Spain)

I belong to the Department of Theoretical and Atomic Physics and Optics, working in the Research Group on Mathematical Physics. I teach for the BSc in Physics (Statistics and Probability) and for the MSc in Physics (State-of-the-art in Mathematical Physics: An introduction to Galactic and Extragalactic Physics). I actively collaborate in Machine Learning with the UVa School of Computer Science Electronics Deparment. I am also part of the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (Portugal).

OCTOBER 2020 - CURRENT

FCT Fellow
IA - OAL (Portugal)

I obtained a FCT fellowship at the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences, working in the The assembly history of galaxies resolved in space and time thematic line.

SEPTEMBER 2015 - SEPTEMBER 2020

Invited Lecturer
University of Lisbon (Portugal)

I taught two courses in the University of Lisbon Faculty of Sciences: Extragalactic Astrophysics: Galaxy formation and evolution (MSc in Physics) and Advanced topics in Extragalactic Astrophysics: Galaxy formation and evolution (PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics). I also supervised the PhD Thesis of Sandra Reis (Photometric and kinematical tracers of the inside-out growth of massive galaxies; with Polychronis Papaderos and Israel Matute)

FEBRUARY 2016 - DECEMBER 2019

PostDoctoral Researcher Associated to the ASTRODEEP FP7 programme
University of Edinburgh (UK)

I partaked of ASTRODEEP, and FP7 project aimed at obtaining the best multiwavelength information for the standard extragalactic fields, namely CANDELS and the Hubble Frontier Fields.

OCTOBER 2014 - MARCH 2015

PostDoctoral Researcher Associated to an European Research Council Grant
University of Edinburgh (UK)

I worked with James S. Dunlop group in the Royal Astronomical Observatory of Edinburgh's Institute for Astronomy, while I also teached at the University of Edinburgh.
